How term life works

You choose a coverage amount and a term — usually 10, 20, or 30 years — and your premium is locked in for the whole term.

If you die while the policy is active, your beneficiaries receive the full coverage amount as a tax-free lump sum. If the term ends and you no longer need coverage, the policy simply expires.

What it covers

The payout can be used for anything: paying off the mortgage, covering everyday bills, funding childcare or education, or replacing the income your household counts on.

Because the benefit is a single lump sum, your family decides how to use it — there are no restrictions and no receipts to submit.

Who it is for

Term life fits anyone with people or debts that depend on their income — new parents, homeowners, and couples planning ahead.

Most applicants qualify with a few health questions, and higher coverage amounts may ask for a short medical.
